I decided to translate the contents from "The Swift Programming Language" and make it open-source for anyone to contribute with the translations.
Here's the deployed site: Swift Programming Language en Español
Here's the GitHub repo: GitHub repository
Please let me know what you think.
That's a great effort! I'm a little worried because it seems to me this content is copyrighted by Apple (there is a message in the footer), is there a special licensing to re-use and re-host the content by other entities than the copyright holder?
The official Swift documentation page (under the "Translation" section) seems to imply translations are allowed:
We encourage you to participate in translating The Swift Programming Language into other languages.
@spaceinvadev Make sure to let them know in #development:compiler so they can add a link to it.
¡Muchísimas gracias! I'm the writer currently working on "The Swift Programming Language", and I understand enough Spanish to read parts of the work you're doing. It looks like A Swift Tour and The Basics have been translated so far.
@icanzilb The copyright page of TSPL differs between the version on Apple Books and the ePUB hosted on Swift.org. The latter one says that the book "is made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/". (The cover art for the Swift.org version also omits the Apple logo, which is how I tell them apart.)
I’d have assumed Apache. Weird.
Hi, all. I just wanted to share the new production URL: https://swiftbook.es/
