Swift programming language on Books app

Hi,

My apologies if this is not the right forum to bring this up.

Just wondering if it would be good to keep the ‎The Swift Programming Language (Swift 5.7) on Apple Books up to date with the latest release of Swift.

It seems to point to 5.7 instead of 5.9.

Thanks

For whatever reason they don’t produce a book anymore. The book is now online. Documentation

Thanks a lot @Jon_Shier that is very helpful.

I wish the book is kept updated to the latest version (at least major / minor versions) as many like to bookmark add notes and continue learning.

This is because the book switched to using Swift-DocC, which doesn't generate EPUB yet.

@benrimmington Thanks a lot, I hope this is supported in future

@somu Please feel free to leave a comment on the DocC issue to describe why an offline version of documentation is valuable to you. For example, since you mentioned bookmarks and notes, you could share some information about how you use those features in your learning process.

I've brought the Swift Programming Series back to Apple Books, with optimized editions of The Swift Programming Language from Swift 5.8 onward.

Quick update on the availability of the book on Apple Books (May 12, 2026)

Unfortunately, the book will no longer be available on Apple Books for reasons outside my control.

You can download the EPUB file from the Swift Book Archive and open it with the Books app. The book will sync across your devices.

For others facing similar issues in the future:

The Swift Programming Series may be unavailable for you because Apple Books is unavailable, or availability is limited to public domain books for some countries or regions.

See this Apple Support article for more details: Availability of Apple Media Services - Apple Support

The Series is set up to automatically become available in new countries and regions as soon as Apple Books availability expands. In the meantime, you can download EPUB versions from Swift Book Archive and open them with Apple Books to enjoy the same reading experience.
