Rust had a Survey among their user base and they gathered interesting and relevant insights doing it

The results are here:

I think we should have such a survey too, it helps developing and growing the community.

Kind regards,

Lars

@vatsal and i were thinking about launching a community-initiated Survey, is this something you would be interested in collaborating on?

Yes, @taylorswift, I and many others are interested in surveying the community in a sensible and productive manner.

One of the many motivations for me personally here is to help surface longstanding community sentiment in areas such as (but not limited to) tooling and language approachability etc. in a manner that's respectful yet non-dilutive and accurate to the current community overview.

honestly, i think we could shamelessly copy 95% of the format of the Rust survey, and just collect equivalent data points for the Swift community, which would have the added benefit of enabling direct comparison between data sets.

the harder part would be verifying survey responses to filter out spam/automated submissions.
