Discourse apparently has a math plugin to allow Latex style math rendering. The plugin is disabled by default and needs to be enabled in the site settings. I think it would be useful.
I just ran into a situation where I could have used this if it was enabled.

I also just ran into a case where I would have liked to use this: quoting text from an evolution proposal that uses GitHub's version of this functionality. Can any site admins speak to whether this is something that's been looked into?
