We connected earlier, and you explained things to me very well in this discussion. I really appreciate your guidance.
I wanted to ask if the Tutorial Mode for the VS Code Swift extension project is possibly being combined with the Swiftly Integration in VS Code project. If that is the case, I would like to request that they not be merged. These two projects serve fundamentally different purposes and combining them could create conflicts. The Tutorial Mode is designed to enhance the learning experience by providing interactive, guided lessons within the Swift extension. On the other hand, Swiftly Integration focuses on seamless project management and external tool integration, which is a separate functionality. Merging these could compromise the usability and clarity of both projects.
I have been actively working on the Tutorial Mode project for the past few days, and such a sudden change could significantly impact the work I have already done and my overall approach to the project.
Please let me know if this is being considered, and Iād appreciate any insights you can provide.
Thanks for mentioning your concerns. We are thinking that the tutorial mode project alone may not be large enough for the duration of the program and is probably more suitable to be combined.
While there are no strict requirements, we will leave the proposals open to students who would like to combine the two if they think they can tackle both. It's possible that in that case the scope for one of the projects will have to be reduced like you mentioned. Since all submission will be open source, someone in the community may wish to maintain the component and submit more changes to it/enhance it, so even an initial version would be very valuable.
I understand your perspective regarding the scope of the Tutorial Mode project. However, I have already invested considerable time and effort into working on it over the past few days. Given this, I would greatly appreciate clearer clarification on the direction of the project.
Could you please confirm if the Tutorial Mode and Swiftly Integration projects are definitively being merged, or if there is still a possibility of submitting a proposal exclusively for the Tutorial Mode? Having this clarity would help me proceed with my proposal effectively without uncertainty.
Additionally, if the projects are indeed combined, it would be helpful to understand how the expectations and deliverables might shift to accommodate both within the program's timeframe.
Please feel free to submit your proposal as you see fit @DecoderDeep. There are no mandatory requirements to merge the Swiftly Integration and Tutorial Mode projects.
If you feel like the tutorials alone will take up the entirety of the project because of more detailed planning then please state this when you mention your deliverables so that we can consider it accordingly. Since you have spent more time on this you may have features in mind we had not considered initially, for example.
