I'm happy to announce that Ada Engine 1.0.0 has been released!
The game engine is written entirely in Swift! Ada Engine has taken another step forward with a brand-new IDE that I call Ada Studio.
Ada Studio is a big leap forward for the game engine because it helps developers bring their game ideas to life. Studio includes AI integration and an Agent Mode that can help you create your dream worlds much faster!
I've also updated the 2D and 3D features and improved game and UI performance.
I notice in your blog posts that you mention having experimented with Godot before deciding to make your own framework. Are there any major areas in architecture, design philosophy, etc. that you felt you would rather create something new? What would you consider the major structural differences between AdaEngine and Godot (other than programming language of course)?
Curious because I've thought about learning one of these game dev frameworks for a long time, and haven't gotten around to it yet, and this looks interesting.
Ada Engine challenges me to build a cross-platform engine that is both stable and fast.
First of all, Ada offers a modern API for Swift developers and integrates with SwiftUI and other Apple frameworks. It’s designed to be easy to use and easy to integrate into your projects.
Ada has a built-in Entity Component System (ECS) and a modular architecture. This makes it easy to add, remove, or swap out individual parts of the engine, such as rendering, physics, and UI.
Ada Studio is designed as an AI-first IDE that helps you focus on your ideas. Skills, tools, a CLI, and access to the source code give AI agents full control over your game.
Godot, on the other hand, is a mature, stable, and much-loved game engine. It has been a huge source of inspiration throughout my journey. Ada Engine is still new, and I wouldn’t consider it production-ready yet.
I’m a solo developer with a childhood dream of making great games, and I need your help and feedback to make Ada more useful to you all.
