"Access to this site has been restricted." error from GH

Lately I've been seeing the "Access to this site has been restricted." error more and more from GH. I do not have any solid repro steps… but it seems to happen most when trying to view a repo from Safari Private Relay in a Private Tab without logging in with my GH credentials.

I have no clear actionable feedback here today. But this might be something to keep an eye on. If there comes a day where GH requires authentication and authorization just to view public issues or diffs on a public repo maybe then there is a discussion about whether or not choosing a different host for the swift repos would be at all practical or worth the tradeoffs of migrating.

Any host of sufficient scale will have the same issue. With the rise of AI bots and the growing scale of attacks, obfuscated browsing isn't always possible anymore. And given Swift's scale, it will be targeted, no matter where it's hosted, so abuse mitigation will always be required. There's really nowhere it can go that avoids this issue. If we want this kind of browsing back, larger scale regulation, whether public or private, will be required.
