The review of SE-0378: Swift Package Registry Authentication has concluded. The review feedback was generally positive and focused on the suggested deprecation of
netrc on platforms that have more secure credential storage mechanisms, such as the keychain on macOS. Review participants pointed out that
netrc remains useful in use cases like CI where dynamically configuring secure credential storage solutions could be cumbersome.
The author and the core team agree with this feedback and the proposal was amended to include the option of using
netrc on any platform by using an explicit flag. With this modification, the core team accepted the proposal.
Thank you to the proposal authors and everyone who participated in the review.
