Hello Swift community,
The review of "Exempt default implementations of protocol requirements from member import visibility rules" ran from May 12 through 18, 2026.
Feedback was light but positive. Given how important it is that the language permit default implementations to preserve source compatibility when a new requirement is added to a protocol, the Language Steering Group has accepted the proposal.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the review, even if only by reading the proposal. Community feedback is vital to making sure that changes like this don't break existing code.
