Route name between "documentation" and "tutorials"

There are mainly 2 category of routes in swift-docc-render. /documentation/* and /tutorials/:id

Why we choose to mix singular and plurals here? Can any of the API designer explain the motivation to do this?

Both of the following form makes sense to me.

  • /documentations/* and /tutorials/:id
  • /documentation/* and /tutorial/:id

Someone reminds me that documentation has a "mass noun" qualifier on British English Dictionary with macOS, meaning not countable.

But I also find this  cc @ibex10

Answer

The noun documentation can be countable or uncountable.

In more general, commonly used, contexts, the plural form will also be documentation.

However, in more specific contexts, the plural form can also be documentations (very rare) e.g. in reference to various types of documentations or a collection of documentations.

This is the first item when I try to google "documentation plurals"
