NSFileHandle implementation

(Rhett Rogers) #1

Hi I鈥檓 trying to use NSPipe to read in output from a task. I see that we don鈥檛 have readabilityHandler() implemented yet in NSFileHandle as of the swift-3.0-preview-2 branch. Is anyone working on this, or can I be of assistance with this? I am new to the mailing lists and I am not sure how this works yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

Situation might have changed since, but last time I asked after that (early last week), I was told that pull requests are welcomed - I鈥檇 say it鈥檚 safe to offer up an implementation, assuming it provides the appropriate semantics :).

Hi Rhett,

Sure, we鈥檇 love some help here.

One challenge with this particular API is that we haven鈥檛 yet integrated libdispatch into Foundation (work is in progress right now), so the async behavior might be difficult to implement.

Ha ok. I will see if I can do anything without it (just so I can get started in contributing to the language/libraries) and if I can鈥檛 figure it out, I鈥檒l see if I can help with libdispatch if its possible
