I think this is a great argument for this pitch: protocol requirements can already be satisfied with other keywords and features than those used to define the requirement in the protocol.

Yes, it's one of the main reasons behind the Protocol Witness Matching Manifesto, to decide what differences are reasonable between a protocol requirement and a witness.
