I'd like to see something like this as well.

It was pitched a while back: [SE-0243: Codepoint and Character Literals](https://forums.swift.org/t/se-0243-codepoint-and-character-literals/21188), and evenually [rejected as presented](https://forums.swift.org/t/se-0243-codepoint-and-character-literals/21188/341); the rejection suggests that it should be revised and reconsidered.
