# \[Accepted\] SE-0422: Allow TaskGroup's ChildTaskResult Type To Be Inferred

Hello Swift Community,

The [review](https://forums.swift.org/t/se-0442-allow-taskgroups-childtaskresult-type-to-be-inferred/73397) of [SE-0442 "Allow TaskGroup's ChildTaskResult Type To Be Inferred"](https://github.com/swiftlang/swift-evolution/blob/main/proposals/0442-allow-taskgroup-childtaskresult-type-to-be-inferred.md) ran through August 6, 2024. The Language Steering Group has decided to **accept** the proposal.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. One issue that came up during the discussion is that there might other similar APIs within the standard library that could benefit from a similar default value to enable more type inference. The Language Steering Group felt that such a generalization is out of scope for this proposal, but could be part of a separate proposal in the future.
